S3A Team Retreat: All together in Rio de Janeiro
After months of virtual meetings and distributed work, our S3A team finally had the chance to meet in person in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was everything we needed and more.
The purpose of this trip was clear: celebrate our wins, strengthen our connections, and enjoy some quality time together outside of our usual work routines. Rio turned out to be the perfect backdrop for all of it.
A Yacht Tour Along the Waters of Rio de Janeiro
We kicked things off with an afternoon yacht tour along Rio's stunning coastline, cruising right in front of the iconic Pão de Açúcar Mountain. The setting was absolutely incredible. Crystal-clear waters, perfect weather, and those postcard-worthy views everywhere you looked. We spent the afternoon relaxing, chatting, sharing stories, and yes, dancing a little. It was the perfect reminder that sometimes the best team bonding happens when you're just enjoying the moment together.
Beach Activities and Good Times
You can't visit Rio without spending time at the beach, so naturally, we made it happen. We got competitive with beach volleyball, tried our hand at paddle games, and laughed way more than we probably should have. These spontaneous moments brought us closer in ways that virtual happy hours just can't replicate.
As Ines Jukic from our Argentina team put it, these activities "gave us the chance to get to know each other in a different context, strengthening our relationships and building a team dynamic that will carry into our day-to-day work."
Getting Work Done Together
Beyond all the fun, we also dedicated time to work together at a coworking space. Being in the same room allowed us to collaborate more effectively, align on our goals, and make decisions faster than we ever could on video calls. It reinforced something important: in-person collaboration still has real value, even in our remote-first world.
An End-of-Year Celebration to Remember
We wrapped up the trip with an unforgettable end-of-year party. We had dinner at this amazing venue with views of Cristo Redentor, followed by music, dancing, and genuine celebration. It was one of those nights where everything just clicked. The atmosphere, the company, the energy. The kind of experience that reminds you why you love working with these people.
Nicole Barreto from Argentina captured it perfectly: "The best part of this trip was definitely connecting with my work buddies, sharing unforgettable moments, and having the chance to work in such a dynamic environment. Getting the Argentinian and Colombian teams together was a blast."
What This Trip Meant to Us
This wasn't just a fun getaway, though it absolutely was that. It was an investment in our team culture and relationships. We returned home with stronger bonds, fresh perspectives, and renewed energy for the work ahead.
Nicole Molineros Sanchez from our Colombia team summed up what many of us felt: "The most valuable part of the trip was realizing how much these experiences strengthen our teamwork and create a deeper sense of trust and unity. It was a week that reminded me how special this team is and how grateful I am to be part of it."
Remote work is great, but moments like these remind us that face-to-face connection still matters. Here's to the memories we made and everything we're building together.
